Fancy booking an entire hotel or taking over an exotic island? It's not as ridiculous as it may sound with a handful of Australian hotels curating packages for those who want to live like rock stars.
Champagne on arrival is no longer enough with over-the-top hotel experiences fast becoming a trend with The Langham Sydney the first to get the party started.
Pitched as the Pure Decadence package – the two-night stay allows you to take over 96 rooms in the heart of the Rocks district for a cool million dollars. Add 110 staff at your service, the spa facilities for you to indulge in, a jazz trio to entertain each night, free flowing champagne and five-star luxury town cars on standby and you really can have it all – even if only for two nights.
Something with the kids
According to The Langham Sydney's General Manager Gaylord Lamy, the package is ideal for a big family getaway, a milestone anniversary or birthday and for those who want to live like royalty.
"This package is also perfect for international travellers looking for a unique and luxurious holiday in Sydney or for corporations looking to reward their high-performance team members on a 'wow' incentive trip," says Gaylord Lamy.
"Our team is also on hand 24 hours to deliver a flawless and unforgettable experience," she adds. Under the guidance of Executive Chef Dave Whitting, you can also eat like a King with a menu that's designed to deliver culinary excellence throughout your stay too.
South of the border
In Tasmania, Saffire Freycinet Luxury Lodge also offers an indulgent package for those keen on a splurge. A four-night stay will set you back $350,000, but it promises an action-packed schedule of indoor and outdoor activities too.
There's helicopter rides to the midlands, a private fly fishing and clay target shooting experience, a chance to smoke a trout in the upper midlands and enjoy some Tasmanian whiskey too. For the adventure seekers, an eight kilometre hike through the national park is in order with Saffire's private camp as your base, and a French inspired cuisine to get you in the mood for the trek back. A day spent in the spa for the afternoon has your name on it and a gala event will seal your fate.
There's fine dining, gin and whiskey distilling masterclasses and a six-course whiskey and gin paired tasting menu for all guests too.
In Tropical North Queensland, Lizard Island cranks up the wow factor for the ultimate ticket to nirvana.
The VIP Reef Expedition Package is a four-night stay in one of their 40 luxury suites. It gets you exclusive access to hidden parts of the Great Barrier Reef and starts at $2904 per room per night.
There's private airplane charter from Cairns, guided snorkelling sessions, tours of the Lizard Island research station and hikes with the island's very own naturalist Ben Carroll. There's access to the Saltwater Restaurant and Marlin Bar and private beach life on any one of the island's 24 private beaches too. You can sea kayak and paddle board to your heart's content and enjoy picnic hampers, unlimited beer, white and basic spirits throughout your stay.
For lovers of raw nature you can experience the Kimberley coastline at Berkeley River Lodge which curates outback adventure with the five star heartbeat that comes with luxury lifestyle. Only accessible by air, half the adventure is getting there and when you do, you can expect to pay $22,000 per night [minimum of three-night stay] to take over the entire lodge. You will need to factor in transfers from Darwin or Kununurra in WA – but chances are you can also fly your own plane there too because you know someone who owns one surely?
The lodge takeover comes with all meals included – hot and continental breakfast and lunch in Dunes Restaurant and a five-course degustation dinner matched with wines, cheese platters and a sunset you can't beat. The full take over package is available all year around and you can set off on beach and bush 4WD tours, river cruising, hiking, sea turtle viewing and wilderness picnics.
But who says you need to leave the city to get away?
